Exhaust Heat Shield
Other than the engine itself, most heat radiates from the exhaust. That can mean factory exhaust, short or full-length headers and/or charge tubing with forced induction applications.
Lately, car designers tend to place the exhaust system closer to the underbody in order to reduce aero-dynamic drag. This development made heat management more difficult, the hot surfaces are not only closer to the underbody, the slipstream also has less cooling effect.

Everyone wants to protect the other areas of the vehicle from their heat sources and usually does it by wrapping areas with heat wrap. While wrapping certain areas with heat wrap can protect other parts of the vehicle, it also acts as an insulator for the tubing itself, trapping all that heat. This can lead to even higher temperatures throughout the system and begin to cause heat soak.
